We had to return the morning after our walk to take our customary sign picture:

 

The accessible start to the boardwalk trail starts at the door from the visitor center. You can also gain the boardwalk outside by using a few steps. We finished our walk after the visitor center closed for the day. We didn't realize it closed at 4pm. We knocked and banged on the door, but no one appeared to help us. Fortunately, I was able to carry Kellisa down the stairs first and then carry her chair on a second trip. Laurel, always her sister's protector, sat with her to make sure she didn't fall forward on her face. It would have been a long night out in the open if I wasn't able to carry Kellisa and her chair.

On our way out of the refuge, we were fortunate to see this beautiful bird high in a tree:
