Jerimoth Hill

Jerimoth Hill is Laurel's 4th state highpoint, Kellisa's 1st repeat highpoint (it was Kellisa's 11th state highpoint in June 2009) and the 10th highpoint repeat for Chris.
 
 
 
Despite it's low summit, Jerimoth Hill was at one time the most elusive and dangerous state highpoints to reach. It was on private property and the owner refused access to the highpoint. The owner would threaten hikers and fire shotgun warnings in the air. Eventually, he agreed to allow access on summer holidays. The highpoint is now owned by the State of Rhode Island and access is granted every day between 8am and 4pm. 


 
There's a geographical marker along the trail before reaching the accepted highpoint. I'm not sure why the marker is on this rock, but we posed for a few pictures...just in case:
